Personality
† Whats more to say than Polo is an absolute Gem. A total hunk, with a well-growing-out body, muscular frame and strong legs, there's no way you can't feel threatened by this guy. Its rare to see Polo dazing about, he's just about always zooming around the paddock, causing a commotion amongst the other Youngster's and putting his nose into every body's business. Yet that's not all he puts his nose into...Yep, Polo has a habit of...Putting his nose in things, you might say. He's had this feed bucket since he was a weanling, and he punched a hole in one side by an accident one day and from then on, has always been attached to the thing! He pushes his nose in it (surprising it doesn't hurt him) and swings his head around until it falls off, then goes back and does it again. We thought it was dangerous at first, and one day we tried to remove it, and he came charging at us at top speed with his ears pinned. Guess we'll never try that again. Polo can also be quite the vocal boy, always announcing his presence with a drumming neigh. He makes half of us jump out of our skin when he makes these grunts, we call them his Moody Grunts, when he's in a bad mood and he's about to strike out or maybe if he's just giving you a warning, he'll nod his head and let out a low, daunting groan. Its hard to understand until you spend enough time with him, but when your around him enough, you eventually learn that when you hear this sound, its time to affirm your dominance, or simply get out of the way. History
† Not much is known about Polo's history because Kirsten had not been keeping tabs on the colt his entire life. But it is believed that the stallion was born at Snow Pearl Acres as both his sire and dam used to reside there. As a two and three year old he was raced on both the dirt and turf tracks under the colors of Snow Pearl Acres. Eventually the stallion was sold to another barn where the owner committed many felonies at the GHF track. Kirsten then managed to snag the talented racehorse from the people who rescued all the horses from that barn. Polo has started settling in finely at Akita Rose Stables and Kirsten plans on having the stallion reach his true potential at last. As a four year old Polo did great considering his neglected background. He managed to win four of his ten starts and even placed in the Breeder's Cup Dirt Mile. He snagged an Encouragement Award for all his efforts. He is a great race horse with a lot of speed. |

† Tricks, tricks and more tricks. Ah yes, the key to Polo's success. Having the blessing of a quick learning mind, and a cheeky personality to match, its not hard for Polo to size up horse's that he feels threatened by and make a note to keep an eye on them. If you find your own horse winning over this boy, you have the right to be a bit nervous. As soon as Polo is beaten by anybody he makes a mental note to copy how the horse ran, if the horse was sitting back a bit and then zoomed right passed him with only seconds to go - then he'll try it himself. Quite intelligent if you ask me. Polo has the ability to run strongly on both Dirt and Turf Surface's. Though he has proven himself more on the Turf, preferring dry and fine weather. When finding himself in a steady situation, Polo is likely to be caught stalking his competitors, creeping up behind each and taking them as they come, he's quite suttle in his transitions too, making sure that he takes them by surprise. |
