SWEET MELODY

Personality & History
† Sweet Melody was a very sweet mare who had a great motherly personality. She was meant to be a broodmare and had three foals. We bought Sweet Melody from a auction at Westleep City along with three other mares: Special Spot, Majestic Wind and Sea Storm. Sweet Melody was actually a package deal as she had a young foal at her side. The foal was a colt by Seattle Slew that Kirsten named Seattle Song. Sweet Melody had quickly earned an important place in Kirsten's heart, as with all her foals. Her foals are out there burning up the track and making names for themselves in honor of their dam. Melody got pregnant a second time to a crazy black stallion named Night Stalker. The stallion had been found in her broodmare pasture at Sunshine Paradise Farm and had mated with all her broods. Special Spot had been already pregnant, as with Sea Storm. Majestic Wind and Sweet Melody were the two broods that got pregnant. Majestic Wind lost her foal however and later got sold to the neighboring farm. But Sweet Melody had a beautiful little black filly whom Kirsten named Sweet Stalker. The next year Kirsten bred Sweet Melody to her other Graded 1 Stakes horse: Muffin Man. The result was a beautiful dark bay filly. It was a difficult labor though and Melody died a few hours after giving birth to the filly. The orphaned filly struggled throughout the first few months but with Kirsten's help she grew into a talented filly named Secret Miracle. Sweet Melody will always be an honorable mare that contributed to some of the best horses that was stabled at Akita Rose Stables. For that she received a beautiful plaque that will honor the mare forever in the new graveyard at Akita Rose Stables (even though her body had been buried at Sunshine Paradise Farm). |
