TOWERING TEMPEST
Y13 Gray Thoroughbred Colt. "Tempest"
Registration Number: #1167 Bloodlines
† Like A Cheetah was a grade one racehorse owned by Akita Rose Stables. He won the Breeders Cup Mile and the Breeders Cup Sprint. He also won the Superstar Sprint and the Kentucky Derby. He is the sire of Sweeto Cheeto, Acantha (G4) and many more upcoming foals. † Glorious Storm never raced but she has a perfectly recent pedigree. She is a full sister to Sand Storm (G1), winner of the Pegasus Stakes. |
Personality
† The original saying goes, "Tempest in A Teapot," meaning a lot of noise in a small enclosed space. That particular saying fits this colt to a "T." Temp is anything, but a quiet and respectful colt. He throws tantrums every time he sets foot out of the stall, has to be under drug persuasion to get his feet and teeth done, and is definitely not on the stable's best mannered list. Temp screams shrill stallion whistles just for the fun of it, rips holes in his stall walls when he does not get his treats. For this reason, Temp is mostly kept outside and is the woolliest racehorse on the property during the winter months. The colt loves the snow, rolls in it, and acts like a little kid every time he sees the fluffy white stuff. He has been known to Houdini his way out of his winter blankets just to let it soak through to his skin. He is friendly with the other horses, particularly the fillies. He is rough at feeding time, demanding that he gets his grain first, but is the slowest eater on the planet. He hovers over his food just so that he can brag when everyone else is finished with theirs. He is a picky eater and can smell medicine or supplements faster than you can snap your fingers. He won't touch his grain until the medicine is removed and likes to suffer the hard way. His overall toughness carries over the to the track and makes him a very volatile contender in most every spot you place him in. Breeding
† Akita Rose Stables was looking to breed Like A Cheetah to a special turfing mare. They were looking for good caliber but when they found Glorious Storm they just couldn't resist. Glorious Storm had never raced and was not well known at all but that didn't matter. Kirsten remembered the day the mare was born, the cutest little gray fluff-ball ever. It just so happened that Cheetah and Gloria had been both been at Sunshine Paradise Farm at the same time and it just seemed like a romantic fit. So it was settled and voila! Towering Tempest was born. |

† He breaks from the gate a step slow, mostly to watch everyone rush away from him, and settles at the very back of the pack. From that position Temp lurks in wait. He'll start making his grand move on the far turn, charging like a silver bullet train up around the outside. The storm that is Towering Tempest carries a lot of momentum and one little stop will throw throw off his game. The colt has a battery that needs a long charge up time. A perfectly timed moved is almost always required if Towering Tempest is to get into the winner's circle. |
